Where we differ: Modal Labs is optimized for request/response AI jobs (inference, batch). Fabric is optimized for streaming, robotics-native jobs with low-latency P2P via QUIC/Iroh, and agent-native payments via x402. Modal Labs has no token, no DePIN sourcing, no direct agent payment path.

Why they won’t just copy us: They could add x402 tomorrow. They can’t easily add the full robotics-native integration (SimArena, optr, machine.fun) without rebuilding their company around a different customer. Their ICP is AI app developers. Ours is robotics teams and autonomous agents.
